Do people tell you that you’re “just too sensitive” or “over-reactive”? Do you find it challenging to function in noisy surroundings and chaos? Are you affected profoundly by violence, injustice, or even a general lack of respect for people, animals, and the planet? Do you find relief and even pleasure in being alone? You may be a Highly Sensitive Person or an Empath. For decades, Tammy and I lived our lives as HSP without knowing it was normal for so many and had a name. Both of us always felt different and misunderstood, and somehow “wrong” for being so sensitive. 15-20% of the population are Highly Sensitive People. Since we don’t see and respond to life the same way as “normal people” it’s easy for us to assume we’re alone and no one understands us.
